Struggling with slow home broadband, or stuck in a property that can’t get full fibre yet? Vodafone has launched a new way to get fast internet at home using its 5G mobile network, known as 5G Fixed Wireless Access (5G FWA) or simply Vodafone 5G Broadband.

By combining this 5G home broadband with its existing fibre network, Vodafone says it can now offer fast broadband to over 26 million UK homes, more than any other provider.

If you want to know whether you could benefit, the first step is to check Vodafone’s 5G and 4G signal at your address using the CoverageChecker.com postcode checker. Your actual options and speeds will depend heavily on the mobile signal strength where you live.

What Is 5G FWA And How Is It Different to Regular Broadband?

Traditional broadband usually relies on a cable (copper or fibre) running into your home. 5G FWA is different, it uses Vodafone’s 5G (and sometimes 4G) mobile network to deliver broadband wirelessly.

Instead of a phone socket, you get a special Power Hub router that connects to the nearest Vodafone mast over the mobile network. To you, it feels just like any other home Wi‑Fi , but it’s powered by 5G, not by cables in the street.

What this means in practice:

  • No landline needed

  • No engineer visit in most cases

  • No digging or waiting for fibre to be installed

  • Just plug in the router, connect your devices, and you’re online

Because everything depends on signal strength where you live, it’s worth checking your postcode on our postcode checker to see how strong Vodafone’s 5G and 4G coverage is at your address before you decide whether 5G FWA might be an option for you.

Who Is Vodafone 5G Broadband Aimed At?

Vodafone is targeting 5G Broadband at people who:

  • Can’t currently get full fibre at their property (which is a lot of homes in the UK, as of May 2026)

  • Are stuck on slower “part‑fibre” or FTTC connections

  • Rent or move frequently and don’t want long installations

  • Just want a quick, no-fuss way to get online

If you’ve been stuck around 70–80Mbps (or less) on standard broadband and can’t upgrade to full fibre, 5G FWA could be a genuine alternative , if the mobile signal at your postcode is strong enough.

Use the our postcode checker to see how Vodafone’s signal looks in your street and what kind of service you might realistically expect.

Coverage: Where Can You Get It?

According to industry reports, Vodafone already has the UK’s largest full fibre footprint, reaching around 23.2 million homes. With 5G Broadband added on top, it can now serve over 26 million homes and premises with full-fibre-like speeds.

A key part of this is the integration of the Vodafone and Three mobile networks, which helps extend 5G coverage to more locations and improve speeds.

But 5G coverage is still stronger in some areas than others, and local signal strength can vary from street to street. That’s why we always recommend double and triple checking the signal strength in your area.

Speeds and Performance

Vodafone 5G Broadband offers:

  • Speeds up to 150Mbps

  • Unlimited data on every plan

Vodafone says this can be up to three times faster than a typical part‑fibre (FTTC) connection, which will be a big boost if your current connection has been held back by old copper lines.

There’s also an outdoor hub coming soon for homes where the 5G signal is stronger outside than indoors. You mount it on an exterior wall, and it locks on to the strongest 5G signal, then feeds that into your indoor Power Hub router to give you a more stable connection throughout the home , especially handy in rural or tricky signal areas. The outdoor hub will function like a business mobile booster solution, but for consumer UK users. When this is released it will be a self install option, but we will likely see the growth of an industry of installers for this technology.

Plans, Prices and Contracts

Vodafone 5G Broadband is currently available on both 30‑day rolling and 24‑month contracts, with no upfront costs. At launch, prices are:

Up to 50Mbps

  • 24‑month plan: £21/month

  • 30‑day rolling plan: £30/month

Up to 150Mbps

  • 24‑month plan: £22/month

  • 30‑day rolling plan: £32/month

If you’re already a Vodafone mobile customer, you can save an extra £2 per month via Vodafone Together, which gives discounts when you bundle mobile and broadband.

Setup: No Engineer, No Landline, Minimal Hassle

One of the big selling points of Vodafone’s 5G FWA service is just how simple it is to get going:

  • No engineer visit needed for the standard indoor Power Hub

  • Out‑of‑the‑box setup – plug it in and connect your devices

  • Next‑day delivery if you order online before the cut‑off, or same‑day activation if you buy in store

For many households, that means you can go from “no broadband” to “fully online” in a day, without anyone drilling holes or rewiring sockets.

Before ordering, it’s still smart to check how strong Vodafone’s 5G/4G coverage is in your area.

Why 5G FWA Matters

The big picture is that Vodafone’s 5G Broadband is part of a wider £11 billion investment in building out its combined network with Three, aiming for:

  • 99% 5G Standalone population coverage by 2030

  • 99.96% by 2034

For you as a consumer, that means more choice:

  • Full fibre where it’s available

  • 5G FWA where full fibre hasn’t reached yet

  • Flexible, wireless options if you don’t want or can’t get a traditional line

The key is matching the right technology to your location. Ultimately, 5G FWA relies on mobile signal, your best first step is always to, enter your postcode on our checker and see what 5G and 4G coverage is like where you live. You can also check on the direct Vodafone checker here , then compare what’s realistically available before you switch.
